Aims
& Objectives:
Bandhua Mukti Morcha is primarily engaged in
liberation of bonded labor and child labor, who are living a life of
slavery. Thereafter it tries to rehabilitate them with their families and
the community. The children are enrolled into non-formal education. It works
in three districts of Haryana namely Faridabad, Rewari and Bhiwani and in
three districts of Rajasthan i.e. Alwar, Kota and Jaipur.
Almost
160 bonded laborers including men, women and children have been rescued from
the stone quarries in Bhiwani district and have been sent to their native
places in Guna district (MP). Their rehabilitation by the state government
is being monitored by the BMM. It is organizing awareness generation marches
against bonded and child labor systems in some parts of UP and Maharashtra.
It runs two non-formal schools in Aligarh for the children withdrawn from
the locks industry. It runs a Tailoring Training Center for women workers in
the brick klins belt on the border of Meerut / Ghaziabad. The state
government has allotted agricultural land as well as funds to the 160 bonded
laborers from the stone quarries in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana. It has also
launched an operation of Dalit Bhoomi - restoration of agricultural lands to
Dalit - SC / ST. It believes that awareness generation among people helps in
building public opinion and raising voices against malpractices and social
injustices. It would like to network with other organizations engaged in
protection of human rights and promotion of human welfare.
