Adhar
Main
Aims & Objectives
ADHAR was founded in 1994 by a few
parents who came together to form a registered public trust called
Association of Parents of the Mentally Retarded Children (APMRC). ADHAR
provides a solution for parents who worry about the fate of their growing
mentally challenged children. ADHAR takes the responsibility of protecting
and caring for them through their lives, and also developing them if
possible. ADHAR is presently providing food, medical, attention, recreation,
vocational training, psychological & psychiatric help round-the-clock to
about 130 such people. The APMRC, founded under M.G. Gore, who has over 30
years of experience in child welfare, also guides parents with respect to
the education of their wards, medical treatment, vocational rehabilitation
and emotional support by encouraging them to share their experience. Located
about 90 kms from Mumbai, the ADHAR campus sits on a 5-acre plot consisting
of three hostel buildings. APMRC has mobilized funds from charitable trusts,
financial institutions, industries, parents and individual donors. To enable
it to meet its increasing costs, cost of planned expansion and other
facilities for the children including a recreation room, a 25-30 seater bus,
a treatment hall, ADHAR needs support. ADHAR welcomes donations in
cash/kind.
